german producer silent-one presents an ambient four track release on his own label intimate silence this february. part of the from another mind crew longside obscure shape & shdw and javier ba&#776,,hr, silent-one (real name benedikt merkl) launched intimate silence as a platform for ambient music in 2016. since then the label has hosted artists like ressort imprint regular g&#322,,o&#769,,s, taapion records co-founder pvnv and arsenik records’ dold, however this release sees the label founder make his very own debut. fuzzy atmospherics and chilling chord sequences set the tone for the ominous ‘human border’ before ghostly synths and twinkling melodies work together to form ‘decide your fate’. on the flip, mesmerising arpeggios meander within an echoing setting in ‘sign of anxiety’ until the murky ‘lost souls’ pairs dusky elements with a spoken word sample to create a sci-fi aesthetic to conclude the release.

blocaus series is back and explores this time the deep side of things guided by the fearless awb lighting the way. the parisian based producer awb is well know to be the owner of taapion records with shlomo and pvnv and also released music on soma records and raw imprint. awb’s sound oscillates between deep / atmospheric techno, with film scoring influence which are reflected in this ep. he delivers 4 fantastic cuts including an outstanding remix by peter van hoesen all on the edge of an amazing melancholic and deep techno style.

it is time for the third owner of taapion records to make it on the spaceship. for the fifth release but mainly his first ep, awb presents two original tracks both remixed by his brothers in arms.

odes of the kabatians is a collaborative project from emergent french producers pvnv and amandra, and with their inclusion on the silent season x series they bring a different mood from the consistent dubbed-out nature of many of the releases. varsovie i is a crisp and clear exercise in cyclical techno programming, while varsovie ii throws shades of light and dark into the melting pot to create an arresting modern techno workout. on the flipside varsovie iii takes a more murky turn towards intricate textures and rhythms and then -varkovie iv- blows things open with a broken beat and tender chords, while still retaining that tough production finish that gives the record its grit.

in the same way as our nation house series, the concept behind nation techno series is to travel around the world to enlighten the techno scene of each country we visit through an eclectic v/a gathering 8 tracks from 8 artists. our approach is to mix newcomers and already respected producers, and thus bring those different visions of the techno landscape together.

upon its sixth release, flyance records proudly features british producer miles sagnia. this new piece is a perfect embodiement of the labels vibe, with deep pads, dub keys, 909 beats and 303 acid on the a-side and with a resolutely deep techno track, with darker textures and hypnotic rhythms on the b-side.

one of the many delsin off shoots welcomes fast rising shlomo to the fray for a new ep featuring three singular originals and one excellent remix from artekfakt. the taapion records boss has previously released on wolfskuil and bright sounds and here serves up some truly sumptuous space techno. the artefakt remix is actually a collage of all three shlomo originals and is a suspenseful, hypnotic and sublime techno roller that carries you tiny another dimension. this is perfectly heady music for cerebral dance floors.

in the space of two short years shlømo has quickly established himself alongside the likes of marcelus, bambounou, francois x and the antinote records crew as a key figure in paris’ current techno generation. having established his own taapion records label in 2013 and built a roster around a core of local producers including roman poncet, pvnv and antigone, in addition to enlisting stephen brown, conforce and sterac as remixers for the label’s releases so far. for its fifth release, bright sounds - run by fellow parisian kennedy smith - revisits last year’s rechaïm ep (bsrx003), with a trio of remixers offering their own takes on shlømo’s established deep and expansive sound. first up is the aforementioned 50 weapons artist bambounou, who offers a dynamic groove-based version of the title track that bounces along an elastic kick drum with cut-up fragments of the original’s atmospheric pads providing further impetus. label owner kennedy smith takes on theory is the worst by bringing its dub textures to the for while filling the track’s empty spaces with intricate drum patterns. finally, italian techno pioneer donato dozzy turns grounded queen into a classic dozzy slow-burning techno trip, with his trademark layered sound complimenting the track’s subtle rhythmic backbone.
